Today, at approximately 12:47 p.m., Champaign Police with assistance from the United States Marshals Service arrested 32-year-old Eric D. Kirk of Champaign in the 1500 block of Winston Drive following a brief foot pursuit. After the arrest, police located and recovered a firearm believed to have been possessed by Kirk.
Kirk was apprehended for an outstanding arrest warrant for a parole violation. He will be transported to the Champaign County Jail on preliminary charges of Escape and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon. He is scheduled to be arraigned in court tomorrow.
Kirk was among the six wanted subjects recently named by police for outstanding arrest warrants as well as being tied to recent gang-related criminal activity.
