The Champaign Police Department Announces Labor Day Campaign Results

The Champaign Police Department partnered with law enforcement around the state for Illinois’ Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Labor Day safety campaign, ramping up its usual enforcement efforts from Aug. 20 through Sept. 4 with the addition of five enforcement details, for a total of 25 hours, focusing on seat belt enforcement and saturation patrols.   During the Labor Day safety enforcement effort, the following actions were taken:

-20 Seat Belt citations

-11 Use of an Electronic Communication Device (Cell Phone) citations

-5 Uninsured Motorist citations

-8 citations for various offenses

The Illinois Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation with federal dollars managed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
