Police Investigate Overnight Shooting at the 1600 Block of Sheffield Road

Last night, at approximately 8 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the 1600 Block of Sheffield Road for reports of gunfire. Upon arrival to the scene, police discovered multiple rounds had been fired into a house containing several individuals, including children. No serious injury was reported, and no emergency medical intervention was needed.

Following a preliminary investigation, Champaign Police do not believe this to be a random act of violence. Police are processing evidence and interviewing potential witnesses to help identify the circumstances that led to the incident.
