Business-Neighborhood Partnership

This award recognizes excellence in business-neighborhood partnership. It is intended for a Champaign-based business that works with a neighborhood or neighborhoods to improve the quality of life and help with positive development. Company must have been operating during the current calendar year.

Community Partner

This award honors excellence in community partnership. It acknowledges non-profit organizations, schools, faith-based organizations, and government agencies for above and beyond contribution to the community. A community organization should be nominated for a specific project, program, or event that benefited the community in some manner. Projects/events/programs must be completed during the current calendar year.

Dave Benton Difference Maker

This award is given for excellence in community service. It recognizes extraordinary volunteer and civic efforts, which help build community spirit. Individuals or groups nominated for this award demonstrate the importance of doing what they feel is necessary to make a difference in the lives of people in the face of great adversity. Activities must be completed during the current calendar year.

Good Neighbor

This award is given for excellence in neighborly service. It recognizes the simple acts of kindness, which help build community spirit. Individuals or groups nominated for this award demonstrate the importance of lending a helping hand and providing volunteer services within neighborhoods. Good deeds must be completed during the current calendar year.

Neighborhood-Community Building

This award recognizes excellence in community building within a neighborhood. Neighborhood-community building projects are activities that are initiated by any individual or group to improve the physical or social environment of a neighborhood. Projects must be completed during the current calendar year.

Neighborhood Leadership

This award recognizes excellence in leadership, and is exclusive to leaders of neighborhood associations, homeowner associations and neighborhood groups registered with the City of Champaign. Nominee must be a sitting officer during the current calendar year.

Neighborhood of the Year

This category is to award the neighborhood association, homeowner association or neighborhood group who is most consistent in getting together for meetings and activities. The neighborhood organization or group who actively strives to provide neighborhood support to residents in its area, and demonstrates value for diversity, promotes inclusiveness and can show documentation of multiple activities and/or projects they have been involved in, or sponsored to benefit the neighborhood or the community. Neighborhood must be active during the current calendar year.

Rising Star

This award honors excellence in youth leadership. It acknowledges individuals or groups who have exemplified positive leadership and decision-making skills in service to the Community. Activities must be completed during the current calendar year.
