The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that the night work to install improvements to Neil Street from Edgebrook Drive south of Interstate 74 to Anthony Drive will begin Oct. 2.
The I-74 ramps at Neil Street will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday until the work is complete. During these hours, please follow the marked detour to reach your destination. One lane in each direction will remain open on Neil Street during this work.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, restrain from using mobile devices and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
