Redevelopment of Hill & Neil Parking Lot in Downtown
To allow for construction of a new downtown development, the City parking lot located at 401 N. Neil St. (corner of Hill St. & Neil St.) will close to the public at 9:00 p.m. on October 26, 2017. Alternate public parking will remain available in the Hill Street Parking Deck, the Neil & Washington parking lot, in addition to other nearby parking spaces. Maps of additional parking locations are available at champaignil.gov/parking.
Construction of a new hotel on the 401 N Neil St. lot is expected to begin in late fall. The City plans to sell the property to the hotel developer by the end of October. The project, approved by the Champaign City Council in September 2017, includes construction of a hotel up to 10-stories tall at the northwest corner of Hill Street and Neil Street. Further construction details will be distributed as they become available.
