Code Compliance, Forestry Tackle Dangerous Trees on Private Property

In recent weeks, Inspector Kim Burnett has been responding to complaints about dangerous trees throughout Champaign. With the cooperation with Forestry Supervisor Andrew Lamoreux, imminently dangerous trees have been identified. Several of those trees were found to be dead ash trees that have been killed due to Emerald Ash Borer infestation. One dying willow tree was also identified. These trees pose a hazard to persons or property.

Property owners are routinely notified that the trees need to be removed. If the tree is determined to be an ash tree, the notice includes information that the owner may be eligible for assistance through the Neighborhood Services Department. In the case of the willow, the owner has already removed the tree.
