The City of Champaign encourages the community to join us in celebrating National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. The public is invited to join in the fun at the community-wide National Night Out event at Beardsley Park (1006 N Walnut Street, Champaign) from 5-7 p.m. The celebration will include free food, entertainment, inflatables, face painting, fun activities, and more. This free event is sponsored by the Champaign Park District in partnership with the Beardsley Park Neighborhood Association.
National Night Out is celebrated across the country as a way for neighbors to come together and improve the safety of our communities. Champaign residents are encouraged to participate by turning on their porch lights, gathering outdoors, and spending time with their neighbors. National Night Out is designed to generate support and participation in local anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit, and foster positive police-community relationships.
Some neighborhood groups and organizations will also hold smaller events to celebrate National Night Out. Residents should check with their neighborhood watch groups for information about neighborhood celebrations.
To learn more about National Night Out, or how to register your neighborhood group with the City, contact the Neighborhood Services Department at 217-403-7070.
