City of Champaign Celebrates Arbor Day

In honor of Arbor Day 2017, Public Works Forestry staff will plant a tree with students from Holy Cross School on Friday, April 28 at 10:00 a.m.  The planting will take place in front of the school on 410 W. White Street.  The tree is replacing an ash tree that was removed due to Emerald Ash Borer.  The City of Champaign is celebrating its 32nd anniversary as a member of the Tree City USA Program.  Both the Arbor Day and the Tree City USA programs are run by the Arbor Day Foundation.
The Arbor Day Foundation, a nonprofit conservation and education association, formed in 1972 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first Arbor Day, its mission is to inspire people to plant, celebrate, and nurture trees.
