Public Works Assists Code Compliance With Illegal Dumping
On January 31, Property Maintenance Inspector Kim Burnett posted a 24-hour notice at 714 W. Hill Street for a sofa observed on the parkway in front of the residence. On February 1, Burnett reinspected the property to check for compliance and found the sofa had not been removed. Burnett attempted to inquire of the owner and knocked on the door but there was no answer. As she was leaving, the postal carrier approached her and told her that if she was there because of the couch, the elderly owner of the property did not put it there. The postal carrier said he witnessed a truck full of junk going down the street and a sofa fell out. Two guys got out of the truck and placed the sofa in the parkway and drove off. Burnett thanked the postal carrier for sharing the information. Burnett contacted Public Works and informed them of the situation and they agreed to pick up the sofa. Burnett returned on February 2, 2017 and the sofa had been removed.
