On September 25, 2016, police responded to the area of 306 E. Green St. for a reported shooting. The on-scene investigation determined that four individuals were injured by gunfire, including 22-year-old George Korchev who was fatally wounded.
During this investigation, Champaign Police Detectives determined that just prior to the fatal shooting, a fight occurred which led to a 22-year-old male victim being beaten until he was unconscious.
Detectives have interviewed numerous witnesses and have processed items of evidentiary interest. As a result, information was developed that led to identifying 6 of the 9 suspects responsible for the fight attack.
To date, the following suspects have been arrested for their involvement in the attack: 18-year-old Sedrick Cooper; 20-year-old Wayne A. Colson; 20-year-old Johnnie M. Holbrook; and a 16-year-old male juvenile, all of Champaign. The suspects were arrested on charges of Aggravated Battery and Mob Action. Bond for each is set at $250,000.
Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the three remaining suspects whose identity is currently unknown; as well as to help determine the whereabouts of two individuals for whom arrest warrants have been issued.
Police have identified and seek to arrest:
20-year-old Jeffrey Alexander-Jordan (photoed left) and 18-year-old Nevelle Booker of Champaign.
Below are photos of the three remaining suspects whose identity is currently unknown. CPD recognizes that the photo quality is very limited, yet hopes witnesses present the night of the attack, or otherwise, may come forward to assist in identifying these individuals.

Unknown Suspect 3: black baseball cap, black shirt, blue jeans, white shoes
