City of Champaign Celebrates Arbor Day

In honor of Arbor Day 2016, Public Works Forestry staff will plant a tree with students from Edison Middle School on Friday, April 29 at 12:00 p.m. The planting will take place along the west side of the school, on Prairie Street. The City of Champaign is celebrating its 31st anniversary as a member of the Tree City USA Program. Both the Arbor Day and the Tree City USA programs are run by the Arbor Day Foundation.

The Arbor Day foundation, a nonprofit conservation and education association, formed in 1972 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first Arbor Day, its mission is to inspire people to plant, celebrate, and nurture trees.
