The Neighborhood Coordination Division organized a delegation from Champaign-Urbana consisting of representatives from the Neighborhood Services Department, Neighborhood Services Advisory Board (NSAB), Human Relations Commission, City of Urbana, and C-U Area Project to attend the 29th Annual Regional Neighborhood Network Conference (RNNC). The event was held in Bowling Green, Kentucky on October 1-3, and had 279 neighborhood leaders, advocates, service providers, and government officials in attendance from the five-state region of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee. The workshop offerings provided an opportunity to network with attendees regarding their neighborhood improvement activities and showcased a wide array of community development initiatives. Additionally, the host city offered neighborhood tours highlighting innovative programs being implemented in the community.
On the final day of the conference, the Champaign-Urbana delegation had the opportunity to present a kick-off message to the conference attendees for the 30th Annual “C-U n 2016 RNNC.” We shared the C-U Micro-Urban video commissioned by the University of Illinois. NSAB Chair Karen Foster provided kick-off comments for the planning and implementation of the upcoming “C-U n 2016 RNNC,” to be hosted by the Cities of Champaign and Urbana, September 29 – October 1, 2016. Staff are very excited to be the host community and anticipate being able to offer attendees an exciting and educational experience while showcasing some of the key attractions in our community that make Champaign and Urbana great places to live.
