Fire Prevention Week Activities

Since 1922, Fire Prevention Week has been observed on the Sunday through Saturday period in which October 9th falls.  This year’s theme is, “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep. Every Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm!” The Champaign Fire Department will again be out in the community to help spread this and many other fire prevention and life safety messages.

The Champaign Fire Department will be at Market Place Mall, 2000 N Neil St., Sunday, October 4 from 12-4pm. Outside the Food Court will be a Touch-A-Truck event so that kids of all ages can see a fire truck up-close. Inside the mall will be a “Hazard House Demo”, community outreach materials, and a special visit from Freddie the Fire Truck.
