The United Garden Hills Neighborhood Association, supported by the City of Champaign, will host a neighborhood connection event on Saturday, September 19, 2015, from
5:30 – 8:00 pm at the Garden Hills Elementary School, located at 2001 Garden Hills Drive in Champaign.
Volunteers from Garden Hills have been working with the City to increase participation from residents throughout the neighborhood and have developed a series of recommendations to achieve their participation goals. The Community Day event is designed to be a fun-filled and family-friendly event that builds neighbor to neighbor relations and shares key neighborhood improvement information. The event will include live music and entertainment from the CUperstars, an open house with local vendors and other engaging community building activities.
In addition, the Neighborhood Services and Public Works Departments will present information on upcoming neighborhood initiatives they will be spearheading to increase participation and address ongoing drainage issues in the neighborhood. This event will give those who have not been informed of these efforts an opportunity to provide input and the opportunity to become more actively engaged in the community building efforts currently being implemented.
