Champaign Fire Department responded to a report of a working fire at 609 Corey Lane on July 22, 2015 at 3:14 a.m. Upon arrival, fire crews found smoke and flames emanating from the roof and South side of the structure. Fire crews deployed a single-hand line into the structure in an attempt to extinguish the fire. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and began salvage and overhaul operations. The Champaign Fire Department reminds residents to always have working smoke detectors.
