Two Subjects Injured in Shots Fired Investigation

On Monday, June 8 at approximately 8:25 PM, Champaign Police responded to the 900 Block of North Fourth Street for reports of multiple shots fired.  While on the scene, officers were advised of two gunshot victims that arrived at Carle and Presence Hospitals.  The injured subjects were being treated for non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a pedestrian and an occupant of a vehicle were injured during an exchange of gunfire in the 900 Block of N. Fourth Street. There was no apparent motive leading up to the shots fired.  Champaign Police processed the crime scene and Detectives are continuing the investigation.  No arrests have been made at this time.

Later overnight, at approximately 2:30 AM on June 9, officers responded to another report of multiple shots fired in the 1000 Block of West Bradley Avenue, where shots were fired at a residential property.  There were no reported injuries.  Police do not yet know if these shootings were related or retaliatory.
