Champaign Police Investigate Shooting and Drug Transaction

On March 18, 2015, at approximately 12:21AM, Champaign Police responded to a report of a fight and possible shooting at the Circle K Gas Station, located at 1713 W. John Street.  The initial investigation indicates that two parties met at the gas station to conduct a drug transaction.  During the transaction, an argument began and resulted in one of the subjects being shot.  34 year-old Troy Mann was arrested for the shooting.  Two handguns and 3 ounces of marijuana were recovered from the scene.

Upon arriving to the incident, Champaign Police observed Troy Mann at the scene, and four suspect offenders leaving the scene in their vehicle.  The vehicle was stopped and Police found that one of the passengers in the vehicle had a gunshot wound to his arm.

Medical units were called and transported the shooting victim to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.  Troy Mann was treated on-site and later treated at Carle Hospital for head injuries obtained during the reported disagreement.  After medical release, Mann was arrested for Delivery of Cannabis and Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a felon.  Champaign Police continue to investigate.
