As part of the City’s 2014 Concrete Street Maintenance Project, the pavement on McKinley Avenue from University Avenue to Springfield Avenue is being rehabilitated. The City’s contractor for the project is Beniach Construction.
Starting Tuesday September 16, McKinley Avenue will be temporarily a one lane, one way street South Bound from University Avenue to Springfield Avenue. The contractor will provide a flagger as needed to help direct traffic.
This work involves patching the existing pavement with new concrete pavement, sidewalk repairs and lawn restoration.
Please pay close attention to construction signs, traffic control devices, and marked detours. Please do not park on the street near the construction site or in areas that are posted “No Parking.” Please proceed cautiously through construction zones and use alternate routes whenever possible. The contractor will attempt to complete construction activities as soon as possible to minimize any inconvenience to the residents in the areas of construction.
The City of Champaign would like to thank you for your cooperation and patience during this construction season. A map showing this location along with all 2014 City Engineering Division projects can be found at www.ci.champaign.il.us/pwd, click on “2014 Construction Maps” under “Timely Topics.”
