Neighborhood Services Director Kevin Jackson and key NSD staff attended this event in Springfield and participated in sessions focusing on fair housing, mental health challenges in housing, resident advisory boards, creating housing partnerships for the homeless and affordable housing development. Keynote speakers over the two days included Senator Dick Durbin and HUD Regional Director Antonio Riley.
In 2014, Neighborhood Programs Manager Kerri Spear began serving as Vice President for Community Revitalization and Development on the IL NAHRO Board. IL NAHRO is the statewide affiliate to the national organization, National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO). This body focuses on housing authority issues but also is working towards bringing more community development officials into the fold as communities work to solve housing issues in today’s market.
