Interstate 57/74 Ramp Closures to begin May 20, 2014

The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that road work will begin on the Interstate 57/74 ramps on May 20, 2014 to improve the ride quality, improve the safety, and extend the service life of the ramps.  Radar speed signs will also be installed.  The ramps will be closed one ramp at a time for patching operations.  Ince all of the ramps have been patched, there will be approximately a 30 day waiting period before placement of the high friction surface treatment.  To safely accommodate this work, a marked route detour will be used, utilizing the remaining ramps, Interstate 57 and the Market Street (exit 240) and Curtis Road (exit 232) interchanges.  Signs and changeable message boards will be used throughout the project to guide the traveling public.  The tentative closure schedule is as follows:
