Born and raised in Champaign, I am a product of Unit 4 schools (Westview, Jefferson and Centennial), and attended Parkland College in the mid-1990s.
During and after Parkland, I worked for a time at Garcia’s Pizza-in-a-Pan, followed by fours year working for Circuit City. For three years I lived in Bloomington-Normal, where I worked as an external employee at State Farm Insurance. I have worked for the University of Illinois since 2007.
I was elected to the Champaign County Board and served there from 2006-2010, and was elected to an at-large position on the Champaign City Council in 2015. I have also served as a member of the McKinley Foundation board of directors since 2013.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, doing some creative writing, dining, watching movies, and am a regular attendee of the Roger Ebert Film Festival in downtown Champaign. Married to husband Ashley, we make our home with our three cats and a Beagle.
