City of Champaign Facilities Closed January 30 Due to Weather

City Building, Champaign Public Library, Public Works Closed to Public

In order to maintain employee safety and to focus on emergency services during the forecasted extreme temperatures, City of Champaign facilities will be closed to the public for routine operations on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. This includes the City Building, the Champaign Public Library and the Public Works facility. All emergency services will continue to fully operate. A decision about possibly extending the closure into Thursday will be made by 5:00 p.m. Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning until 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 31. Wind chills could range from -29° to -39° across the area.

The City encourages the public to stay home if possible. If you must travel, use extreme caution. Those needing to go outside for any length of time should take extra precautions to protect themselves from the extreme cold.
