Champaign Police Investigating Shooting in the 1300 Block of Fairfax Drive

On Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, at approximately 7:10 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the 1300 block of Fairfax Drive following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 24-year-old male victim inside a private residence suffering from serious gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The preliminary investigation suggests two unknown subjects entered the residence and following a confrontation, fired multiple rounds at the victim before fleeing the scene. There is currently no available suspect information.

Champaign Police are processing evidence and actively working to identify the circumstances leading up to the incident. While the investigation remains in its early stages, this is not believed to be a random act of violence.

Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for this crime.
