City Serves as Judging Site For National Video Competition

Each year, the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) hosts the Government Programming Awards (GPA) and judges the video production work of the best public, education, and government access channels in the nation. To handle the large volume of competition entries, NATOA seeks help from its member organizations to serve as judging sites for this prestigious competition.  The City of Champaign is a long time NATOA member, and agreed to judge the “Library” category for the 2018 GPAs.  On May 4, 2018, Jeff Hamilton and Janet Ahern (Communications Division) and Jason Liggett (Urbana Public Television), had the honor of judging eight video entries. The judging panel evaluated and scored each video in the areas of content/creativity, technical execution, and overall impression. City staff notified NATOA of the judging panel’s decision, which will be publicly announced at NATOA’s Annual Conference on August 30, 2018.

Over the last 12 years, the City of Champaign has been honored to receive 12 separate Government Programming Awards for CGTV’s video production work.
