Neil Street Road Closure
(Main St. to Chester St.)
As part of the City of Champaign’s 2018 Pavement Patching Project, construction will begin on Monday, May 7, requiring the closure of Neil Street between Main Street and Chester Street. Neil Street will be CLOSED to through traffic during construction. The purpose of this project is to patch the deteriorated pavement. This project will consist of removal and replacement of pavement and curb & gutter. It also includes the removal of the brick paver crosswalks along Neil Street. This project is weather dependent. Please use alternate routes whenever possible. The contractor will attempt to complete construction activities as soon as possible to minimize any inconvenience to the businesses residents in the areas of construction. The contractor estimates traffic will be restored by Thursday, May 10 at 7:00 AM. Access to parking on Chester Street between Walnut and Neil will still be accessible. Vehicles will be able to exit on the west end of Chester St. and turn south on Neil St.
