Assistant City Attorneys Featured Speakers at University of Illinois College of Law

Assistant City Attorneys Jennifer Gover Bannon and Kathryn Cataldo were featured speakers at an event held by the University of Illinois College of Law Career Services Office on February 1, entitled “Perspectives on Practice: Municipal Law”. Jennifer is an alumna of the University of Illinois and the University of Minnesota Law School, and Kathryn is an alumna of Fordham University and the University of Illinois College of Law. Their engaging hour-long presentation included information on the many different practice areas in the life of a City Attorney, as well as “real-life” illustrative examples to give students a true sense of the career path of a local government lawyer. Law Clerk Patrick Tipton was also in attendance to answer questions and describe his experiences in working for the City Legal Department. The event was well-attended by law students, generated a significant amount of interest in opportunities to serve as a law clerk for the City, and was the first event of its kind for the City Attorney’s office.
