Urbana-Champaign Angel Network Meeting

On November 28, Planning and Development Director Bruce Knight participated in a pitch meeting of Urbana-Champaign Angel Network (UCAN) along with Champaign County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) staff, U of I Research Park staff, and possible Angel investors for the companies.

The pitch meeting included three company presentations – two startups and one success story, all from Champaign-Urbana and all seeking different levels of capital investment.

UCAN, a program of the Champaign County EDC, exists to provide a forum for accredited investors to access and review selected investment opportunities in a confidential, efficient and effective manner. UCAN’s emphasis is to further economic development in the Champaign County area by matching capital providers with some of the best start-up business opportunities.

The Champaign County EDC, in conjunction with the UCAN Committee, manages the program by hosting pitch meetings, networking opportunities for angels and companies, and providing educational forums for people to learn more about local companies and angel investing.

Since 2011, UCAN has held pitch presentations for 65+ companies and currently has about 30 accredited investors.  Learn more at http://champaigncountyedc.org/business-services/small-business-services/angel-investing.
