America Recycles Day @ Boneyard Creek (Saturday, November 4, 2017)

City of Champaign staff from the Public Works Department, Neighborhood Services Department, and Planning Department will be coordinating and hosting America Recycles Day @ Boneyard Creek on Saturday, November 4, from 10:00 a.m. to noon.  Several local groups have already committed to volunteering, including, but not limited to, members of Keep Champaign Beautiful and organizations such as Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club, Farnsworth Group, and Champaign Park District.  A free pizza lunch will be provided immediately following the clean-up.
We ask that residents interested in volunteering register at: www.champaignil.gov/ard
We do not normally have a litter clean up event during this time of year.  This event is being held in lieu of the annual Boneyard Creek Community Day, which was cancelled due to rain.  We believe it is a great way to keep the community engaged in clean-up efforts and to remove any litter that is cluttering our waterways.  It is also a great opportunity to educate residents about the benefits of recycling.
America Recycles Day is an initiative of Keep America Beautiful and is nationally held on November 15 to promote and celebrate recycling in the United States.  Each Keep America Beautiful affiliate community hosts an event in early November tailored to their unique needs.  Our local event is an opportunity to raise awareness for the national America Recycles Day effort.
