City of Champaign Welcomes Public Input on Council Goal Setting

The Champaign City Council will meet in September to discuss their goals for 2017-2019, and the public is encouraged to share its thoughts and ideas to help guide the discussion.  Every two years the City Council identifies a set of goals, which the City Manager and Executive Staff use to set priorities, direct work activities, and allocate staff and financial resources.  Public input is an important part of the Council goal setting process, and residents are encouraged to complete a short survey and share their thoughts on what the City should focus on during the next two years.

The survey asks two basic questions:

  • What do you value most about the City of Champaign?
  • What should be the City’s highest priority during the next two years?

The survey is available online at champaignil.gov/goals.  Residents can also pick up a paper survey in the City Manager’s Office (Champaign City Building, 102 N Neil Street, Champaign).  Completed surveys must be received by 5:00 p.m. on September 13, 2017.  All survey responses will be provided to the City Council in advance of their goal setting meetings in late September.

Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen calls for the public’s assistance, stating, “The City Council was elected to represent our residents and to foster the type of community we all want to live in.  To do that, we need to hear what the concerns and needs of our community are so we can focus on addressing them over the next two years.”
