Residential Fire – 1619 West Lock Raven Road

The Champaign Fire Department responded to a working fire at 1619 West Lock Raven Road, Monday, July 17, 2017, at 3:54 p.m. Upon arrival on the scene, fire crews found a car on fire in the driveway.  The fire had extended into the attic of the home.  Suppression efforts began immediately.

One occupant was home at the time of the fire and was alerted by a neighbor.  Firefighters deployed hose lines both inside the home and outside to the car and extinguished the fire. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported.

The total damage estimate is $27,000 to the structure and contents.  The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.  Investigators remain on scene performing a scene examination.

The Champaign Fire Department reminds all citizens to maintain a working smoke alarm in their place of residence and to have and practice a home escape plan.  Smoke alarms can provide early notification when seconds count.
