Area Law Enforcement Hold Scenario Training – June 15, St. Thomas More High School

Champaign County law enforcement agencies will be holding a joint training exercise tomorrow, June 15, starting 7:30 AM at St. Thomas More High School – 3901 N. Mattis Avenue, Champaign.

Citizens can expect to see a number of police vehicles and increased police presence in the area on Thursday.  As well, nearby residents and businesses are advised that training devices may be used that are loud in nature.

The annual situational training exercises help prepare officers for various emergency response scenarios and mutual aid needs that may occur in Champaign County.  As with any emergency, the general public is asked to stay clear from the site to aid officers in providing adequate response.

Olympian Drive from Mattis Avenue to Duncan Road will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic.  The east entrance to St. Thomas More, located at Saber Drive and Mattis Avenue, will also be closed.

Media representatives are welcome to use the opportunity in a training capacity.  Champaign Police Department command personnel will establish a briefing location to handle media inquiries.

Participating Agencies Include:

Champaign County Sheriff’s Office
Champaign Fire Department
Champaign Police Department & CPD S.W.A.T.
Illinois State Police
METRO S.W.A.T.
Rantoul Police Department
