On April 12, 2017, the City’s Communications Advisory Committee (CAC) hosted a meet-and-greet event between City leaders and members of the local media. Communications Manager Jeff Hamilton facilitated the meeting, which was undertaken as a way to strengthen the City’s relationship with local media outlets. Fourteen members of the local media from nine different organizations attended. Promoting a positive and balanced relationship with the media is a goal of the City’s Public Communications Plan.
At the meeting, Department Heads presented information about the responsibilities of their respective departments and previewed some upcoming City projects or events that might be of interest to the public. All in attendance were able to network and get to know one another better before and after the meeting. Post-meeting feedback was very positive and media representatives expressed their appreciation for the opportunity. Staff will soon debrief about the meeting and look for other opportunities to strengthen the City’s positive working relationship with the media.
