Champaign Property Maintenance Inspector Susan Jones and Urbana Housing Inspector Nicholas Hanson were the guest speakers at the Central Illinois Rental Property Professional’s general meeting on February 16 at the Hilton Garden Inn. Approximately forty people were in attendance for the presentation. Both inspectors provided information regarding changes to property maintenance codes for each jurisdiction. Areas highlighted included plumbing, electrical, mechanical and fire safety issues that each inspector has commonly encountered during the course of inspecting tenant occupied dwellings.
Champaign provided a self-inspection checklist for multifamily properties that can be utilized by maintenance personnel and owners in accessing their properties. At the conclusion of the presentation, members were able to ask specific questions regarding property maintenance issues. Feedback received from the membership indicates the presentation was well received.
