Residential Fire – 903 Ada Drive

Champaign, ILThe Champaign Fire Department responded to a working fire at 903 Ada Drive, Sunday, October 23, 2016, at 8:51 p.m. Upon arrival on the scene, fire crews reported smoke coming from the front of the residence.  Suppression efforts began immediately.

Twelve (12) pieces of Fire/Rescue/EMS equipment and approximately twenty-six (26) emergency response personnel responded to the call from Champaign Fire and Arrow Ambulance.  The occupants were alerted to the fire in the kitchen by the smoke alarms in the residence.  Crews entered the residence, and quickly extinguished the fire.  The fire was brought under control at 9:08 p.m.  There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported.  The total damage estimate is $17,500.  The fire originated in the kitchen on the stovetop.  The cause of this fire was accidental.

The Champaign Fire Department reminds all citizens to maintain a working smoke alarm in their place of residence and to have and practice a home escape plan.
