Citizen Review of Police Complaints Working Group to Hold Community Meetings

The Champaign Police Department Citizen Review of Police Complaints Working Group will hold two meetings to gather public feedback into the Champaign Police Department’s complaint processes and in the consideration of citizen review.

Formed in June 2016, the focus of the Working Group is to provide City Council with specific recommendations as it relates to citizen oversight in the police complaint process. The group has conducted considerable research to this point and will be providing a public overview of their efforts.  Citizens are invited to attend the upcoming meetings to share their perspective on the topic and the group’s research findings.

Community Meetings Will be Held:

  • Monday Oct. 10, 6-8 PM, Mount Olive Baptist Church-808 E. Bradley Ave, Champaign
  • Thursday Oct. 13, 6-8 PM, Centennial High School-913 S. Crescent Dr, Champaign

Citizens are encouraged to review relevant meeting and presentation documents that outline the group’s goals and progress.
