Registration Now Open for the 2016 Regional Neighborhood Network Conference

The Cities of Champaign and Urbana are proud to serve as hosts for the 2016 Regional Neighborhood Network Conference (RNNC) and invite the public to participate in this exciting opportunity to collaborate and promote neighborhood wellness and community engagement.  The 30th Annual RNNC will take place September 29 – October 1, 2016.

The RNNC provides a high value, low cost community training and peer-to-peer sharing opportunity for approximately 350 neighborhood leaders, municipal staff, elected officials, community development practitioners, service providers, and businesses.  The RNNC is a multi-state organization that is celebrating its 30th anniversary and consists of 24 member cities from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee.

Conference participants will choose from 30 different workshops covering topics like public safety, youth engagement and development, neighborhood revitalization and development, collaborative engagement, food insecurity, environmental sustainability, and affordable housing.  Conference attendees will learn best practices and gain valuable insight on ways to effect positive change and transformation in their own neighborhoods or communities.

“This is great opportunity to show off everything Champaign-Urbana has to offer,” reports John Ruffin, Neighborhood Coordinator for the City of Champaign.  “Hundreds of visitors from across the Midwest will meet in our community to learn about the accomplishments and various programs in place right here in Champaign-Urbana.  Through workshops, field trips, and peer to peer collaboration, all the participants will learn new ideas to take back home in order to improve their own communities.  The Cities encourage our local community members and neighborhood leaders to join in the discussion by attending this wonderful event.”

Registration for the RNNC is available online at 2016RNNC.com.  A discounted, early bird registration fee of $100 is available through August 31, 2016.  Limited youth and college student rates are also available by phone.  To learn more about the Regional Neighborhood Network Conference, visit the website or call Champaign’s Neighborhood Services Department at 217-403-7070.
