Champaign Recognized for Efforts to Strengthen Police-Community Relationships

On August 10, 2016, the United States Conference of Mayors issued a report recognizing the commitment that communities from across the country have made to strengthen police-community relations. The City of Champaign is one of 49 cities highlighted in the report, which shines a light on progressive cities who are working to foster community conversations on race relations, justice, policing, and equality.

“I’m proud that The United States Conference of Mayors chose to highlight the City of Champaign’s ongoing efforts to address problems which communities across the country are struggling with,” reports Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen. “It’s rewarding to know that our local efforts are being held up as an example for other communities to follow.”
