Champaign Police Investigate Shooting Incident

On March 30, 2016 at approximately 5:01 PM, Champaign Police responded to the area of Mattis North Apartments, located at 2000 N. Mattis Ave. in Champaign after receiving multiple calls of gunshots being heard. Upon arrival, officers located a 31 year old male subject that sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Carle Hospital in serious condition.

Information concerning this incident is still being developed, and Champaign Police Detectives continue to investigate this incident. Detectives are working to obtain descriptions of individuals believed to be involved, and are currently interviewing several witnesses and persons of interest. Evidence obtained at the scene suggests that more than one individual was actively shooting during this incident.
