Champaign Police Seek Information in Fatal Accident Investigation

On January 7, 2016 at approximately 11:11 PM, Champaign Police Department officers responded to the area of Olympian Dr., approximately 100 to 500 yards west of Market St. for an injured subject. Upon arrival, officers located a bicyclist that had sustained traumatic injuries consistent with vehicle contact. The injured subject was transported by medical personnel to Carle Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Champaign Police Department are seeking information from anyone that may have been in the Olympian Dr. & Market St. area between 10:45 PM to 11:11 PM on Thursday evening, and observed a male in dark colored clothing on a bicycle, or witnessed an accident involving the cyclist at this location.

Champaign Police Detectives are investigating this incident and ask that anyone with information to contact the Champaign Police Investigation Division at (217) 351-4545 or Crime Stoppers at (217) 373-8477.
