Champaign Community Coalition sponsors Racial Taboo Event

On November 12, 2015, more than 175 citizens attended a free screening of the documentary Racial Taboo at Centennial High School in Champaign. Like similar viewing events held around the country, the public was invited to view the 53-minute documentary then engage in facilitated small group discussions about racial issues in today’s society. Racial Taboo takes an honest, yet entertaining look at America’s racial history and examines how that legacy continues to affect our society today. This was the first of three Racial Taboo screenings the Champaign Community Coalition plans to host over the next several months. Racial Taboo is intended to be a catalyst for open, respectful, and ongoing conversations between people of different races. The film’s trailer can be viewed at www.racialtaboo.com.
