Kirby Avenue Lane Closures (between Duncan Road and I-57 Overpass)

The Champaign Township Highway Department has announced that starting Friday, July 24, 2015, weather permitting, their contractor, Open Road Paving, will begin asphalt milling and paving operations on Kirby Avenue between Duncan Road and Interstate 57.
The pavement surface milling operations will require intermittent lane closures with construction vehicles entering and leaving the work zone. Asphalt paving operations are expected to occur next week starting July 27, 2015.
Kirby Avenue will remain open to traffic; however, there will be lane closures and construction flaggers to control traffic. Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route, such as Windsor Road or Springfield Avenue, because there may be long construction delays while traveling through the work zone on Kirby Avenue.
Please pay close attention to construction signs, traffic control devices, and flaggers. Please proceed cautiously through the construction zone and use alternate routes whenever possible. The contractor will attempt to complete construction activities as soon as possible to minimize any inconvenience motorists and residents in the area of construction.
