The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that motorists will encounter a full closure of northbound I-57 at Curtis Road in Champaign from 8:00 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015, until 8:00 a.m. Sunday, June 7, 2015, weather permitting. Traffic will be detoured via Curtis Road to U.S. Route 45 to Illinois Route 10 (Springfield Avenue) to Mattis Avenue to I-72 back to I-57. The closure is necessary for repair work to be completed on the I-57 overpass at Kirby Avenue. Kirby Avenue will remain open to traffic, but will be restricted to one lane utilizing temporary signals. Motorists are reminded to reduce speeds in work zones and be alert for workers and machinery.
