Champaign Police Announce Arrest of Murder Suspect

On Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at approximately 1:33 PM, the Champaign Police Department arrested Robert E. Williams for the offenses of Murder and for Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver.

Robert Williams, a 28-year old male from Champaign, was arrested in connection with the October 25, 2014 murder of Jermel Hedrick.  Williams was arraigned and formally charged in Champaign County Court on Thursday, March 12 for both the Hedrick murder and for possession with the intent to deliver.

Champaign Police detectives worked over 500 investigative hours to bring this case to an arrest.  Although an arrest has been made, this investigation remains active.
