CFD Fire Information Report – 402 Briar Lane

Narrative: Champaign Fire Department responded to 402 Briar Ln. on February 18, 2015 at 6:18 p.m. Upon arrival, fire crews found light smoke in one unit of the eight unit apartment building. Upon further investigation, fire crews found fire to be in a plumbing chase wall that ran from the first to the second floor. Fire crews advanced several hand lines to the front of the structure and advanced to the first and second floors. Fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire. One resident was home at the time of the fire and was able to evacuate on his own. No injuries to fire personnel or citizens were reported. A total of eight occupants have been displaced. Champaign Police Department assisted with traffic control. The Emergency Services Support Team and American Red Cross were on scene to assist the displaced residents. The Champaign Fire Department encourages all residents to have working smoke detectors.
