Neighborhood Coordinator, John Ruffin met with Jameel Jones, Outreach Director from the Champaign Park District, to discuss a series of upcoming block parties that will be conducted throughout the City. The block parties are focused on making program services equitable throughout the community and will be focused in neighborhoods we have targeted for Neighborhood Action Planning or focused services. NSD will work with registered groups in each of the targeted areas to access small grant funds to leverage the park district investment in entertainment and activities to provide food and volunteers to support the block parties. The following dates and locations have been proposed: May 28 – Human Kinetic Park; June 18 – Hedge Rd (Garden hills); July 2 – Dobbins Downs; July 30 – Country Brook; August 27- West Kirby.
