Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

A suspect in the First Midwest Bank robbery, which occurred on September 15, 2014, and the Illini Arcade robbery, which occurred on September 12, 2014 has been arrested.

On September 22, 2014, MICHAEL ALEXANDER, 37, of Rantoul, was arrested in the 5900 block of Deerwood Court in Indianapolis. The arrest was made by the U.S. Marshals Task Force in Indiana.

Champaign Police received numerous Crime Stopper tips which led to the identification of Michael Alexander, and additional leads which aided the investigation.

Alexander is currently being held in Indianapolis at the Marion County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond for the charge of aggravated robbery in Champaign County. Alexander is also being held on a Vigo County (Indiana) arrest warrant for robbery, and an Indiana Department of Correction’s parole arrest warrant.
