The Champaign Police Department is currently investigating a shooting incident, which occurred on September 23, 2014, at approximately 10:23 PM in the 500 block of Alabama Avenue.
At 10:24 PM, officers responded to a dispatch of shots fired in the area, after receiving multiple calls from the public. Upon arrival, officers located a 23 year-old Champaign man with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported by ambulance to Carle Foundation Hospital (condition status unknown). Officers from the Patrol and Investigation Divisions interviewed witnesses and processed the crime scene.
Detectives are currently following up on all leads and attempting to locate the suspect(s) responsible for this crime.
