The City of Champaign will honor Vicki Stewart by dedicating a portion of Market Street, between University Avenue and Logan Street, as Honorary Vicki Stewart Way. The honorary street sign will be unveiled on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. during a ceremony at the intersection of Market and Logan Streets in Champaign.
Ms. Stewart was a lifelong volunteer who worked as the director of Retired Senior Volunteer Program, served on the Champaign County Board, and was also an advocate for accessibility while serving on the MTD Board.
Champaign City Council approved this honorary street on September 3, 2013. Family and friends of Ms. Stewart requested the dedication ceremony be held on the one-year anniversary of her passing.
