John Ruffin, Neighborhood Coordinator met with the Krannert Center for Performing Arts Community Engagement team, the SITI Company theater group, and community team members to discuss the proposed theater project development. The proposed project will be a collaborative project in conjunction with the theater group and community stakeholders. It was agreed that the group will work to produce a community production of the Dreamgirls musical production with local talent. Local talent including students, youth, and young adults will work with the theatre company to implement all aspects of the production. The hope is that they will be able to develop the skills and capacity to develop a community based theater company that will be able to produce quality community theater productions. Additionally, Krannert hopes to make their facility and its resources more accessible to community members.
